Medicaid for Assisted Living and Memory Care

Posted on: March 20, 2023

More and more frequently, we hear from families who have a concern of their parent or loved one outliving their savings and how best to navigate that dynamic.

The biggest question is "what do we do if we run out of money"

In our experience, most people with two or more years of savings will have adequate funds to cover their care costs in an assisted living or memory care facility.  If you want to know how long your savings will last, email us at info@angelscarefh.com and we'll send you our free Care Calculator that will model your current savings, income and the monthly rate of the facility you are looking at.

Many facilities require new residents seeking a Medicaid bed to have at least will 2 years of private pay funds in order to secure a medicaid assisted living/memory care bed in the future.

Angels Care plans to offer will the Assisted Living Medicaid Waiver for new admissions over the next few months pending approval by the State of Ohio.  The goal of this new program is to offer new residents a level of comfort that they can mover their loved one into Angels Care today and so long as they don't have a new health condition that requires a higher level of skilled nursing care, they can remain at Angels Care even if they exhaust their private pay funds and Angels Care will accept the current prevailing Medicaid Assisted Living Waiver payment for their care.

Should a resident decline to a point of needing more than 120 days of skilled nursing care in a calendar year, current Ohio statute requires that all providers refer the resident to a facility capable of providing full time skilled nursing care.

Contact Lisa Sloan at 513-659-3463 to learn more about this new program and the admission requirements.  Our goal is to be fully certified no later than in early to mid 2024.  We are accepting applications for this program now and space will be limited initially to 10 beds at our Newtown campus and 7 beds in our Loveland campus.
