I promised my parents

Parents

Your Parents raised you, provided a safe and comfortable home for you to grow up in, provided you with an education and held your hand until you were able to go out into the world and make your own way.

Now the time has come, due to a health change, mobility or memory challenge, that your parents need your help.  What do you do?   You promised your parents you would never put them in a nursing home but what options do you really have?  Caring for them in your own home may not be feasible for a variety of reasons.

Depending on where you live, the only options in your area may be the traditional campus style Assisted Living or Nursing Home Facility.

Do you even know what options exist in your city?  Where do you look?   There are lot's of services that are community based and even some for profit company's that make recommendations based on your needs, financial capability and geography.

When you contemplate the traditional Assisted Living or Nursing Home Model, consider this.

How many times have you walked in the front door of a facility only to find residents gathered in the common area in their wheel chair or sitting in a chair or couch.  How many of them are sleeping?   My guess, is most of them.

That is the image I had when I had to oversee the care my grandmother was receiving when my father died unexpectedly over three years ago.  It seemed every time I came to town, and she was 6 hours away, I'd find her sitting in a chair, dozed off asleep, with no staff around.   And this was in a facility owned by a large national operator.

In large part, this image is what has led me to create what I feel is the most intimate care model you could possibly provide for your loved one.....A Home, not a dormitory.  A HOME that provides continuous supervised care to just a few people under the same roof, with the privacy they need but the social interaction and attentive care that is so important to our elderly, especially those suffering from Dementia or other memory issues.

Late in my Grandmothers life, she had trouble remembering me and my sisters and I can only think that had I known about the concept of a shared living environment or had it been available back then in her city, how much different the last years of her life may have been.

Angels Care Family Home was founded with one simple Mission: Create a family style living environment for Cincinnati's Seniors by offering personalized care in a small and intimate Residential setting, with that "just like home feel", where the highest level of care and attention for each individuals needs are administered by qualified and carefully selected residential caregivers.

Whether your loved one needs assistance with the daily aspects of life, defined as Assisted Living, or has memory issues such as Dementia or Alzheimers, the Angels Care Family Home model should be high on your list when considering where to place your loved one in Cincinnati.

You always promised your parents, "I'll never put you in a Nursing Home" and if you didn't have that conversation with them, I bet you had it with your self more than once.   It's a difficult decision, so take some time and learn about the options in your city.

Angels Care Family Home provides so much more than nursing care....we provide your loved one with a new extended family and a quality of life that is truly unique.
